One hand roll

From KayakWiki

Described for capsizing to the left.

  1. Set up for roll with right hand across body as if for normal hand roll.
  2. Hold onto right buoyancy aid strap with left hand just to prove to any disbelievers that it is a one handed roll.
  3. Body should be neutral or slightly forward.
  4. Capsize to left.
  5. Throw right hand across body and apply strong hipflick.
  6. Lean back on way up to reduce water resistance and add to the flick.
  7. If you're finding that you can't quite make it: try letting go of strap with left hand and throwing it across the boat on way up to help balance the boat.
