Maytag

From KayakWiki

Maytag: Picture a front loading washing machine with a glass pannel in the door. Notice the way the cloths gyrate around inside the machine. Now imagine that instead of the cloths, its your body sitting inside a kayak gyrating around and around. That's called maytaging and it has to be one of the most unpleasant feelings in kayaking (short of a shoulder dislocation --- but we don't want to go there).

Maytagging occurs in wild water. The edges of nasty stoppers on whitewater rivers can literally maytag you to death. You can also expect to get maytagged in the surf zone when big ugly waves collapse on you. If you play in big rough water enough, you will get maytagged -- and for that, I offer my condolances in advance.
