Matches

Waterproof matches are largely a myth. Waterproof match containers are not.
Strike anywhere matches are the most convenient. Unfortunately, they tend to be hard to get.
Most matches require a striking strip of chemical to light them. You can always tear the striking strip off the matchbox and put it into the waterproof container. Turn the striking strip around so that the matches don't touch the striking surface in the container.
You can buy waterproof matches or simply dip matches in wax.
