Lighter
From KayakWiki
Lighters are useful and easy to get. Cheap ones work. Fancy ones work better and give you bragging rights.
There are several brands of windproof lighters on the market now, readily available in better outdoor gear shops. These aren't yer grandfather's Zippo. They are more like mini blowtorches. Expensive, but neat. One has a built-in LED flashlight and looks like it was designed with Bond in mind.
Another trick that works for some stoves - piezo lighters without fuel. Get a barbeque lighter - those long ones with a piezo igniter instead of a flint. When the fuel runs out, cut off the fuel tank part and just keep the igniter with the long skinny neck part. Now you have a gadget that's about 8-10cm long that only produces sparks. If you want to light a pressurized gas stove (propane, butane, blends) it works like a charm. I use it for my white gas (naptha) stove - an MSR. Prime it and hold the sparker right against the priming fuel in the bottom of the stove. It may take a few tries, but it usually ignites.
