Kayakwiki Registration

To register and create a new user account on kayakwiki, click the 'Log in / create account' link in the top right hand corner. Choose a user name and password. You can also provide your email address. This remains hidden from other users, but will allow people to message you via the website.
[edit] Why set up a user name?
You don't have to do this, to edit kayakwiki, but if you're going to be making a few edits, it helps the community if you identify yourself by name. Otherwise we only see your I.P. address, and we have to be more suspicious of your editing (because you could be a passing vandal or Wiki Spammer). By doing this, you are also claiming credit for the effort you put into editing.
[edit] Choosing a username
Use 'Firstname[SPACE]Lastname', but if you want to remain anonymous, you can use any nickname you like. Your chosen username shows up on Recent Changes, and revision history pages, whenever you make an edit. It is also the name of your User Page should you wish to create one (later), and so you should avoid naming clashes with existing kayakwiki pages, or names which sound like they could be articles about kayaking.
