Ireland
From KayakWiki
Kayaking is a sport constantly increasing in popularity in Ireland with many scouts, university clubs and other clubs bringing new paddlers to the scene every year. You can find most forms of kayaking in Ireland including white water, freestyle, sea kayaking, surf kayaking and polo although slalom is less common and there is a lack of big volume rivers. The governing body of the sport in Ireland is the Irish Canoe Union. One of the biggest events held annually is the world famous Liffey Descent through Kildare and Dublin.

Ireland as a location for sea kayaking it is superb ! Not only that, but there is a most fantastic guidebook to all the offshore islands, written specifically for sea kayakers.

That's very good value for thirty Euros, but if you can live without the colour photos and maps, then it is available for download for free, in several formats. Whilst recognising that this kayak Wiki has the scope to become a rapidly updated free guidebook to the world's kayaking locastions, it seems a shame to reinvent the wheel by putting a shadow of this superb resource here, so visit
and see for yourself. There are also useful links on the Irish Sea Kayaking Association site at
