Flatwater racing

There are many types of flatwater racing.
- Olympic class flatwater kayak racing is governed by the ICF. Racing kayaks are designed to strict rules. They are in three classes:
- K1 - single kayak
- K2 - double kayak
- K4 - fours (four person) kayak
Distances are over 200m, 500m and 1000m. See: sprint.
- Marathon races are held over long distances.
