Comparing Greenland and Euro techniques

Below are two comparisons of Olympic Wing paddle technique and Greenland style technique.

The most obvious differences are the height of the grip at the crossover and the position of the lower hand at the recovery. In the picture above, the crossover in image 2 shows the Olympic paddle holding the paddle at chest level where the Greenland paddler holds it at stomach level. Note that the Greenland paddler does let his upper hand come up to eye level or above. He just pushes down from there where the Olympic paddler moves his upper hand across a nearly eye level.

Between image 7 and 8 you can see that the Olympic paddler moves his hand well out to the side at the end of the stroke, where the Greenland paddler keeps his hands nearer to the side of the boat.

In the comparison above you can still see the relative differences in hand height through out the stroke. Notice both are rotating their torsos.
